1: Kruger National Park

This is the biggest and most famous of the national parks in the country. If you only visit one national park on your visit to South Africa then this is the one you must go to!

2: Other National Parks

There are numerous parks found throughout the country and they all have something special to offer. Not all the parks are dedicated to game animals such as Lions, Buffalo and Elephants; some are devoted to the special types of flora that can only be found in this part of the world.

3: Sun City

Sun City is a luxury South African casino resort, situated in the North West Province. This city has everything you need to enjoy a fun holiday and it has been favourably compared with Las Vegas.

4: The Garden Route

This is a coastal road that runs along the southern coast of South Africa and overlooks the Indian Ocean. The route is renowned for its scenic beauty and charming towns.

5: Table Mountain

This mountain overlooks Cape Town and offers spectacular views over the surrounding areas. It is also the centrepiece of the Table Mountain National Park which surrounds the city.

6: Robben Island

A very important historical site sometimes compared to Alcatraz but its inmates were all political prisoners such as Nelson Mandela.

7: Cape Winelands

South African New World Wine is celebrated throughout the world and this is the heartland from where it is produced. You can get tours of the various vineyards and even sample some of the produce.

8: The Cradle of Humanity

Though early humans could have been throughout the continent, the conditions found in the caves of The Cradle of Humanity site are perfect for preserving the remains left over. Many fossils have been, and still are, found at this site.

9: Drakensberg Mountains

This mountain range located in the east of the country offer an excellent opportunity to either admire the scenic beauty or crack out the hiking boots and hit one of the many trails open to exploration.

10: Soweto

A very important historical area especially from a political aspect during the Apartheid era. The area first came to prominence during the gold rush of 1886.
